World Bank launches new Strategic Plan for Ethiopia
On November 29, 2017, November 20, 2010 on the Ethiopian Calendar, the World Bank launched a new strategic plan to support Ethiopia in the next five years.
The new strategic plan, which will be implemented in 2018 and 2012, is in line with the second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
According to the World Bank's Country Director, Karolin Turkey, the strategic plan is to enhance the Ethiopian productivity and enhance the structural and economic change.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General said that Ethiopia has been able to sustain economic growth over the past ten years, striving to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the sector.
It is also the goal of the strategic plan to support the government's efforts to build institutionalized accountability and fight corruption.
The government should undertake further activities on transparency and accountability, although the government has implemented several feedback options, the director said.
Ethiopia is moving to a lower middle level by 2025, according to the report.
