Global Green Growth Week
Ethiopia is effectively using green technologies, participants of Global Green Growth Week meeting said.
After visiting the Light Rail Transit system of Addis Ababa and Reppie Waste-to-Energy Facility today, Deputy Director-General and Head of Operations Enabling Division Robert Dawson told ENA that the visit has given him understanding about how Ethiopia tackles issues of green growth.
The Light Rail Transit and the Reppie are technological demonstrations of the capacity for green development using renewable energy, he added.
According to Dawson, the two projects are not only environmental friendly but people friendly and well-organized, very structured, clean and with good system.
Myanmar Country Representative for GGGI, Aaron J.M. Russell said the railway infrastructure is solving the problem of mass transportation and Reppie Waste-to-Energy Facility the wastage problem of the city.
Senior Adviser for Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment, Vedis Vik remarked that the short period of time to build the railway and Reppie facility and their size along with the political commitment of the Ethiopian government makes both of them impressive.
The visit was arranged by Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change and GGGI.
