Business Visa

If you wish to travel to Ethiopia to undertake business or any work, including voluntary work, you will require a business visa. Business visa applications can be made online, in person at the Consular Section or via post.

Business visas cannot be obtained on arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

Except investors that are identified by the Embassy, all other business travelers need to obtain a support letter from the MAIN DEPARTMENT FOR IMMIGRATION & NATIONALITY AFFAIRS.

Email: maindepartmentofconsular@yahoo.com

Phone: (+251) 11-155-3899

Fax: (+251)11-1553209.

The inviting organization or sponsor must submit a formal application letter to the Main Department of Immigration and Nationality Affairs office in Addis Ababa, with details of the applicant’s purpose of visit, passport details, duration of stay, etc.

Please do not submit your application to the Embassy without prior approval from the Main Department of Immigration and Nationality Affairs office. We cannot guarantee that a visa will be issued by a specific date, so please do not make final travel plans, including purchasing tickets, until your application has been fully processed and you have received a valid visa.

How to Apply

You may apply for a Business Visa either by coming to our embassy in person or by post.

Online (e-Visa)  From 1 June 2018, all international visitors to Ethiopia can apply for their tourist visas (e-Visa) online.

The e-Visa is processed and issued online by the Main Department of Immigration and Nationality Affairs, where applicants can securely apply and pay for their entry visa.

Once the online application is approved, applicants will receive an approval letter sent directly to your email address authorizing them to travel to Ethiopia and they will get their passport stamped with the visa upon arrival in Addis Ababa.
